Time Management: A Priceless Commodity For Your Business and Life

Do you feel like a chicken without a head all day? Does running a home, family and a business feel like your in a circus and your the clown? I know it from experience that not having proper time management skills can leave you feeling like your running and getting nowhere.

One of the biggest killers to your Home Business or any business for that matter is poor time management.

Here are some tips that will awaken your desire for wanting to master time management.

Tip #1. Plan every month in advance just like you would a vacation.

Often times the only thing we properly plan are things like vacations, road trips or anything we feel is fun. This can cause chaos in our everyday lives. You need to know what needs to be done on a monthly basis acording to your priorities.

How do you do this? Figure out what your priorities are. Hopefully your priorities look something like this:

1.Spiritual life
2.Family (including kids and husband if you have them)
3.Business, work
4.Household Chores

Once you set your prioroties in order then you get your calendar out and you make time for each activity that needs to be done.

If there are any activities on your calendar that are not going to enhance the quality of your business or family and personal life then you can get them out of there. Make room for the things that are REALLY important in life.

Step 2. Figure out what things you need to have at hand to do every item planned on your calendar.

I’m talking grocery items, clean ironed clothes, educational movies for the kids, marketing plan for the week ect…
Everything that might seem to you like a tedious task would be quite an adventure if this was a vacation you were planning. Treat it as such and you’ll be amazed at how smooth your week will flow. Put this into action and watch the chaos and stress levels go down drastically.

How To Effectively Manage Your Time In Your Home Based Business

In this fast paced life that we live in, you will never be caught up.
The first thing to understand is just that.
There is never enough time to do everything you want to do.

This is why if you want to be successful in your home based business you need to learn and apply the following techniques that can help you increase your productivity.

Think On Paper
Grab a notebook and a pen and write a list of all the things you need to do to get you closer to your goals you have set for your home business. Make sure that all things on that list are actions that will take you one step closer to your goals.

Things like reading your emails and returning a friends phone call should not be on that list. Keep your list at hand and if anything comes up during the day you can write it down in your list.

Always work from a list, if it’s not on your list, Don’t do it!

Choose The 3 Most Important Tasks
Is your list about 3 pages long? I thought so!

Now we are going to go through the list and pick out the 3 most important things to do this very moment. A good way to figure out which are your 3 highest value tasks is to ask yourself these questions as you choose your high value tasks.

Is this activity going to make a big impact in my life? What will be the potential consequence of doing or not doing this task? And be very honest here.

A lot of people confuse being busy with being productive. So make sure your activities will REALLY get you closer to your goals.

Grab a small piece of paper about the size of a sticky note and write down these 3 high value tasks that must get done today.

Sometimes one large activity has many action steps to do to complete it. You can always write them down on a sheet of paper in the order they need to be completed to get your task done and then when it is complete, scratch it of your list.

Plan Your Day The Night Before

Every night before going to bed, plan your next day in advance. This will take about 10 to 12 minutes but will save you about an hour the very next day.

Do It Now!
The world doesn’t pay you for what you know , it pay’s you for what you do. When you take action you trigger all kinds of things that will inevitably carry you to success.

Go grab a pen and paper now and make a list of things to do and always, always plan your day in advance!

How To Minimize Distractions

Do you ever find it hard to get started on income producing activities first thing in the morning? Before getting to your most important tasks you find yourself reading emails, returning phone calls, checking you bank account balance and before you know it, half of your morning is gone?

Well, a great way to stay focused is to block an alloted time in the day where you focus on
responding to things such as emails, voicemails, balancing your checkbook.

You’ll get more done and avoid spending hours doing something non-productive.

You might also try waiting until all of your money producing activities are completed
before reading emails or returning calls. If you avoid the distractions, you can often
finish the necessary work faster and then leave yourself more time for the “fun” tasks!

If you’re worried about waiting voicemails and people anticipating your call, try this very
easy solution. Put on your voicemail when you’re available and when someone should
expect to hear back from you.

An example would be: “Hi, and thanks for calling. You have
reached the homeoffice of Ismary Leon, If you are calling between the hours or 9-11, I am working hard at building my business. Please leave me a message and I would be happy to return your call between 11-12pm.
Thanks, and have a great day”. Not only does this message let people know what you’re
doing, but it is very specific in when you’ll return the call.

I hope this helps, for more tips keep coming back!
