Copywriting Your Way to Success

So you got your website up, you have nice product pictures
and buy me buttons…but nothing happens. What’s missing?

WORDS!

It’s true a picture can paint a thousand words, but a few
words can paint a pretty vivid picture. Is your website
painting pictures that inspire sales? Here’s a few key point
to get you on the right track:

1. Understand your target audience and their desires. What
problem can you solve for them?

2. What is your Unique Selling Position (USP)? What makes
you different than your competitor. It’s not enough to say
you are “unique”. WHY are you unique? Why should someone
shop with you?

3. Headlines – Headlines are key. In bold, large lettering
at the top of your page, you MUST command attention and keep
your visitor from clicking away. You can do this by:

- Ask a provocative question
- Offer a solution to a problem
- Offer a shocking statistic

4. Speak to your audience and avoid talking about yourself.
Count the number of times you say “we” as opposed to the
number you say “you”. If you say “we” more than “you”, your
website needs serious tweaking.

5. Don’t forget your call to action. Don’t expect people to
know what you want them to do. TELL THEM. If you want them
to buy something, ask for the sale. If you want them to sign
up for your newsletter, don’t rely on them seeing that sign
up box on the side.

I Don’t Want To Be A Supermom, Do You?

supermom
Have you ever met Mrs. Supermom? You see her on television alot, you know the mom who is always smiling, wears great outfits, always has her make up and hair done. Her kids are perfect. Her husband is perfect. Her house is always neat and clean. She cooks homemade dinners every night. And she somehow manages to run the PTA, get the kids to soccer practice 3 nights a week and volunteer for every class trip.

Yeah right! Who are they kidding?

It is our human nature to emulate these women. We want what they have. If the mother of that family is using xyz soap, we want to use xyz soap.

Over the years, we as a society, hold on to these images of “perfect” families as our role models. The media also takes a turn in this by creating television shows and movies that feature these perfect families.

Many women feel bad about themselves when they realize that they do not ‘match up’ to these “super” moms. Don’t let the fictional SuperMom make you feel bad about yourself.

Remember – this person is not real. And if she ever had to live a day in your shoes, she would be falling apart by noon!

I’m more than happy to let the house fall apart just so I can work on my business or play with the kids. In the end what matters to me the most is that I will be able to support my children with their dreams, both financially and emotionally.

What about you? Ever tried to live up to be “Supermom”?

Why God Made Moms

Enjoy the answers given by elementary school age children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

1. She’s the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of they’re when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?

1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men’s bones. Then they mostly use string. I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

1. We’re related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people’s moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

1. My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don’t know because I wasn’t there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer? Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores.

Why did your mom marry your dad?

1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. and my mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that mom didn’t have her thinking cap on.

Who’s the boss at your house?

1. Mom doesn’t want to be boss, but she has to because dad’s such a goofball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What’s the difference between moms and dads?

1. Moms work at work and work at home, and dads just got to work at work..
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller and stronger, but moms have all the real power because
that’s who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend’s.

What does your mom do in her spare time?

1. Mothers don’t do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

1. On the inside she is perfect, on the outside some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I’d diet, may be blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I’d get rid of that.
2. I’d make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.

Motherhood And Business: Can You Balance Both?

momandbaby
I walked into my office this evening with my two year old following me and as I sat down and took a good look at my to do list he starts pointing at my book shelf and starts nagging me to give him a book. I gave it to him ofcourse but knew that book would keep him busy for only about five minutes if I was lucky. Then he starts asking for more books , the camcorder or even my laptop.

So I just sat back comfortably into my chair and decided I would just watch him play. The industrous voice in me starts saying “start blogging” and the other voice say’s “watch him play”.

My biggest challenge with being a mom in business is turning off the business voice in my head, closing down shop at the end of the day and being present with my kids, my husband, my friends. I know my passion for creating and growing a network marketing business has the potential to consume me and there are times when I would happily allow that but life is about staying in harmony.

Did you think I was going to say balance?

I would have a few months ago. Ever since my youngest turned two it’s been almost impossible to get into my office and get some real work done.

In response to this I read an interview at a great website that I love to read called www.womencanhaveitall.com she was doing an interview with Tara Summers the creator of MEDBASICS (a must have product if you have young children). And here is what she said when asked What advice do you have for your fellow entrepreneur moms?-

Surround yourself with other women entrepreneurs. There is something invaluable about that support system.

- Gratitude. On those days where everything feels impossible remember that there are places in this world where we would never have the opportunity to have such a day in business.

- Perspective. My father shared with me something I think about almost on a daily basis. He said, “A business that responds with a sense of urgency is a business that is doomed to failure”. Slow down, gain perspective and then proceed. Very few things in this world are truly urgent.

On that note I decide to get back to watching my little guy play and when I do the sweet little thing had fallen asleep under my desk while he had been flipping pages of the book I had given him.
